PISTON CYLINDER REPLACEMENT ON AM6 Minarelli Motor
Ce tutorial aims at you help change the piston cylinder from your 50 to box thanks to pics and explanations associated. In this example we used a motor AM6 Minarelli. Discover our range of cylinder and pistons.
Note: Following the change of the piston cylinder of your engine box AM6 Minarelli, we strongly recommend that you run an 500km run-in to guarantee optimal engine operation!

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR PISTON CYLINDER AM6 MINARELLI
1) Disassemble the saddle and the front fairings.
2) Remove the fuel tank (remove the two hoses below, then the 3 screws on top of the tank).
3) Purge the coolant by removing this screw.
4) Remove the cooling cap to empty more quickly.
5) Remove the coolant hose by removing the two clamps above.
6) Remove the two springs from the muffler.
7) Remove the screw from the muffler support.
8) You can now remove the exhaust.
9) Remove the interference suppressor and the temperature probe.
11) Loosen and remove the 4 bolts from the bolt.
11) Remove the cylinder head and the cylinder head gasket.
11) Remove the cylinder. Help yourself with a mallet if needed.
11) Tip: If the cylinder does not come out, remove the motor support shaft.
11) Tip: Insert a cloth to prevent the piston clips from falling into the lower engine.
11) Remove a piston clip.
11) Push the piston pin with a screwdriver.
11) Now remove the needle cage.
11) Install the new segments on the piston. The black segment at the bottom and the gray at the top.
11) Place a clip on the piston.
11) Install the new needle cage (grease it a little with oil).
11) Install the new piston and axle by putting engine oil on it as well.
11) CAUTION, the arrow on the top of the piston must be towards the front of the vehicle.
11) Push the axle inside using a screwdriver and put the other clips.
11) Remove the cloth.
11) Install the new base gasket.
11) Install the new cylinder. Tip: Put some oil in the cylinder if necessary, clean the front joint plane.
11) Be careful to fit the segments in the grooves of the piston (positioning pins).
11) Press with your fingers on the segments, the cylinder will slide alone.
11) Install the new cylinder head gaskets. Put some grease on the breech to hold them.
11) Replace the cylinder head. Tighten to 18nm using the torque wrench.
11) Replace the temperature probe and the suppressor.
11) Replace and tighten the engine support shaft.
11) Replace the exhaust pipe and the two exhaust springs. Also remember to replace the exhaust support screw (see step 5b).
11) Replace the coolant hoses by tightening the collars securely.
11) Replace the water pump screw.
11) Fill up with coolant.
11) Replace the fuel tank (3 screw on top).
11) Remember to put the two hoses back on the carburetor.
11) Replace the front fairings as well as the saddle.
Replacing the piston cylinder of your 50cc box is quite complicated. You must be patient in order to properly perform this intervention. You will find on our website a large number of cylinder and pistons, or even engine kits to Derbi Euro 2, Euro 3 and AM6 Minarelli.
