Ce tutorial aims at you help set the breaker on your typical moped Peugeot XNUMX. The principle is identical for other brands and models of mopeds without electronic ignition.
Le breaker is used to regularly interrupt the electrical supply to cause the spark necessary to start the cyclo. It contains platinum screws , and in fact that was its usual name in the past. Note that some mopeds with electronic ignition no longer use it.
In the ignition system of a motor vehicle, it is the part used to manage the spark to the spark plug.
The ignition timing allows the mixture of air and fuel to explode when the piston is at top dead center.
As a reminder, top dead center (photo XNUMX) designates the moment when the piston is at its highest position in the cylinder. Conversely, bottom dead center (photo XNUMX) designates the moment when the piston is at its lowest position.
Difficulty :
Temp s necessary:
XNUMX minutes
1) Remove the fasteners and the ignition cover.
2) Unplug the suppressor.
3) Remove the candle.
4) Install in place of the spark plug the piston lock.
5) Rotate the crankshaft counterclockwise to bring the piston to the stop.
6) The ignition rotor is now blocked, you can unscrew the nut.
7) Insert the flywheel puller into the center of the rotor.
8) Using the combination wrenches, tighten the steering wheel puller screw.
9) Remove the rotor.
11) Here is the breaker.
11) Remove the piston lock.
11) Insert the timing pin into the spark plug location. The timing pin will allow the position of the piston to be measured precisely.
11) Set the gauge to zero.
11) By turning the crankshaft, the piston will come into contact with the pin and lift the rod to TDC (top dead center).
11) Tighten the rod screw to maintain the adjustment. The piston must be at Top Dead Center in order to be able to shift the ignition point.
11) The piston must be lowered by XNUMX mm before TDC using the pin.
11) ATTENTION: the position of the candle is not necessarily vertical. As here, the candle being at an angle, we put XNUMX mm to actually have XNUMX mm in advance. This parameter will be taken into account in the calculation.
11) Rotate the crankshaft a quarter turn counterclockwise.
11) Screw the pin XNUMX turns with the help of the scale.
11) Return the piston to its stop. From this point, the opening of the breaker can begin.
11) On the ignition rotor there is a cam which will activate the breaker.
11) Present the rotor.
11) It is necessary to adjust the distance of the breaker to the maximum opening.
11) Take a XNUMX mm wedge, slide it between the tracks of the breaker.
11) If the wedge does not fit, you will have to loosen the screw to adjust the breaker.
11) Then tighten the retaining screw.
11) Check the correct passage of the wedge.
11) Locate the mark on the rotor. Position this mark at the spark plug wire passage mark.
11) Check that the opening of the breaker corresponds to the mark on the rotor.
To be sure of the moment of opening, you can use a sheet of rolling paper (XNUMX mm).
11) Place the foil between the breaker tracks.
11) Turn the rotor so that the sheet is retained.
11) Pull the foil lightly and turn the rotor to the mark. The sheet must be freed.
11) Tap lightly with a mallet to hold the rotor in place.
11) Reset the rod to TDC (top dead center).
11) Rotate the rotor counterclockwise.
11) Screw the pin XNUMX turns.
11) Turn the rotor all the way and check that it is at the mark.
11) Remove the rod.
11) Replace the piston lock.
11) Replace the rotor nut and tighten.
11) After removing the piston lock, replace the spark plug and tighten it.
11) Reconnect the suppressor.
11) Replace the ignition cover.
11) Replace the ignition cover fasteners.
Installing a new ignition on your moped is quite simple but requires patience and precision.
You can change your complete ignition but you can also change the parts independently. As Par example the ignition coil , CDI box , ignition cover , ignition stator and rotor .
Remember to consult the other categories of electricity to find all your parts: electricity accessories , candle, switch box , Speedometer , lighting , beam and components , horn .
