Since its founding in 1922, the company has been owned by the Bohle family. It is now directed par the third generation.

Schwalbe is a German brand specializing in the manufacturing and marketing of tires for bicycles and wheelchairs. This brand was created in 1973, it means “Swallow”

The special technology of Schwalbe allows us to produce the rubber for the tread of a bicycle tire with polymers obtained exclusively from renewable and recycled raw materials, while respecting a quality standard high in terms of adhesion and durability. The energy and resources required for tire production are thus reduced and optimized.

Schwalbe is the first tire manufacturer in the world to participate in the “Fair Rubber” cooperation program. In this context, Schwalbe pays an additional Fair-Trade premium of €0,50 on each kilo of rubber (dry products). Concretely, this involves supporting a cooperative specially created for this purpose, which currently brings together 277 small farmers not far from the factory Schwalbe in Java, Indonesia.

Fair trade rubber plays a central role in the sustainable development of products. Currently, Fair Rubber is used specifically in electric bicycle tires.
