HOW TO REPLACE THE CASSETTE ?

The bicycle cassette is an integral component of the bicycle. The latter contributes to the proper functioning of the bike. Wearing part, it is necessary to replace it.

2) Unscrew the road axle. Remove the axle. Replace the spring and nut and set aside

3) Insert the key guide into the axle slot.

4) The rotation required for loosening is in the direction of the freewheel.

5) The cassette must be blocked in order to be able to loosen the nut

6) Here we are going to use the chain whip. Place the whip around the cassette to block rotation when removing the locknut

7) Loosen the cassette

8) Take the used cassette out of the wheel hub

9) Take advantage of the disassembly to clean the spoke protector.

11) Clean the rear wheel hub thoroughly.

11) On the new cassette, remove the plastic protection, by pressing under the tabs. Please note: some gears may be free.

11) Locate the key (i.e. the widest space between two grooves).

11) Position the spoke protector.

11) Locate the cassette key and insert the cassette. Before installing the new cassette, apply a coat of grease to the freehub body.

11) The free gears are inserted from largest to smallest.

11) Bring the nut closer to the cassette.

11) Insert the cassette remover and tighten the nut

11) Tightening is done in the direction of the wheel locking. The use of the whisk is not necessary

11) Replace the wheel axle that you have previously greased.

11) Tighten firmly but not all the way

11) All that remains is to make a few adjustments.

11) Check that the gears shift correctly and check the condition of the chain.

After refitting the rear wheel, it is recommended to spin the wheel by pedaling and changing gears to check that everything is working properly.
