For this tutorial, we will use a AV7 engine as an example.

1) In this example, we can see that the string is worn, so it needs to be replaced.
2) Remove the four bolts from the starter block.
3) Cut the worn part while holding the string.
4) Let the string gently retract into the launcher,
5) Then take it off.
6) Unscrew the retaining screw.
7) Remove the roller and wheel (Be careful, make sure the spring remains flat).
8) Pass the new string through the hole in the wheel.
9) Tie a knot at the end of the new string.
11) Now pass the string through the notch in the wheel.
11) Finally, pass it through the hole in the spring block.
11) Install the wheel into the spring assembly. To do this, insert the part indicated above and turn the wheel counterclockwise to lock it.
11) Place the roller in place.
11) Screw in the retaining screw.
11) Insert the string into the handle of the launcher,
11) Then into the string holder.
11) Tie a temporary knot at the end of the string.
11) Turn the wheel counterclockwise to tension the spring.
11) Make between 4 and 5 turns of the wheel to reassemble the spring.
11) Place the notch at the hole and block the wheel using your thumb.
11) Release the tension gently to rewind the string.
11) Determine the position of the final node.
11) Cut the excess string using the pliers.
11) Position the knot in the string holder.
11) Replace the string holder in its housing.
11) In our example, the string is not taut. You must therefore turn the wheel once again to put the spring in tension.
11) Pull a good length to give some slack.
11) Collect the string using a screwdriver and tuck it into the notch.
11) Take a turn counterclockwise.
11) Check the correct spring tension. In our example, the handle has returned to its initial position, so the spring is well tensioned.
11) Place the launcher back on the block.
11) Tighten the starter bolts.
11) You now know how to replace the starter cord on your moped. Do not hesitate to consult our moped tutorials in the event of a problem with your vehicle.
