At the end of the 1990s, the GPR is launched par Spanish Derbi in order to counter theAprilia RS, which was then a real success among young people.
At the time, brands Aprilia et Derbi were not gathered within the group Piaggio, unlike what is happening today..
The confrontation was fierce! There GPR 50 had a promising start, but it was not until 2004 that the machine really made its appearance. Indeed, it was this year that the machine underwent its first complete... and radical renewal.
La GPR second generation turned out to be a real bomb with its visible aluminum chassis beam, its impressively sized brake discs, its radial braking, its exhaust under the saddle, its GP spoke rims and its new aggressive trim with an ultra look -modern.
However, in the spring of 2008, news shook things up: the spectacular arrival of the Peugeot XR7. Peugeot, who had never studied the segment before, was surprised par Derbi. However, the response did not take long car two years later, the GPR proposed a new redesign.
Since its creation, the Derbi GPR is a symbol of advanced technology. At the front and rear, we find par example radial braking, while the rims feature imposing brake discs of 300 and 218 mm in diameter. For suspensions, we can still count on prestigious brands such as Païoli, which offers a 41 mm diameter anodized black inverted fork, or Ollé, which provides suspension with a hydraulic monoshock with a red spring. Despite the use of tires Pirelli Sports Demon par its big sister with a higher displacement, the GPR 50 always remains equipped with road tires Vee Rubber, in 100/80x17 and 130/70x17.
The motorcycle receives its power through the gearbox. For nearly 20 years, the Derbi GPR, an Hyper Sport 50 cm3, very popular with young people, is the reference in terms of 50 at road speed. As soon as it arrived on the market, it aroused admiration thanks to its sporty style and its large cube appearance, as well as its equipment. It's impossible not to stare while riding this motorcycle. The city is obviously the favorite terrain of GPR, and it is in this context that we will be able to benefit from the dynamism of its engine and its muscular brakes. The 125 cc version is equipped with the same equipment.
La Derbi GPR, equipped with a technical and sharp aluminum frame, is a real pleasure to drive. The mill does not operate like a gas plant, but offers good mid-range acceleration. The entire cycle is top quality. It interests both par its fairings with acute shapes and par its brake discs, its shock absorber and its fork which are all the elements of a racing road bike. When you ride on its handlebars, its fork head, equipped with double optics, a central light and Ducati 1098 type mirrors, arouses respect, as does the exhaust which shines in the central position under the saddle.
As a true leading sportswoman, the GPR uses the most advanced technologies on the market to offer a high-performance and innovative motorcycle. Thanks to its aluminum perimeter frame, the GPR 50 is equipped with half-bracelets in the low position, an inverted fork of 41 mm in diameter capable of withstanding the formidable braking of the two-piston and radially fixed calipers tightening the 300 mm (!) diameter disc. Its asymmetric swingarm with variable section and its mono shock absorber give it rigorous behavior and good agility. The cycle structure is therefore strong and light, while the 2 cc 49,9-stroke engine with suspended liquid cooling guarantees increased comfort. As for ergonomics, the selector can be easily adjusted by taking an eccentric step.
La GPR 50 is very well equipped in terms of instrumentation, with a premium digital instrument panel (LCD) including rev counter and speedometer, as well as total and partial odometer. Everything is completed par some nice features, including a watch (always handy!) and a fuel gauge. Additionally, a stopwatch, battery voltage and maximum speed will be displayed. .
