Choosing the right tools

THE KEYS

The flat keys : of a size varying from 6 to 24, it is better to choose them mixed, that is to say with fork on one side and eye (polygonal) on the other. They avoid damaging the nuts

The pipe wrenches : prefer the framed ones to the 6 ones. Ideal for loosening.

The socket wrench : not essential if you are equipped with flat wrenches, they are very comfortable. The square sockets, the most used in motorcycle mechanics, are the 1 / 2, the 3 / 8 and the 1 / 4. The keys specific to your cane: spark plug wrench and oil filter. For the latter, there are so-called universal models which cover several sizes of the most common filters. For the spark plug key, you have to check the size that is fitted to choose the right size.

The screwdriver : flat or cruciform. For cruciforms, choose a Phillips imprint, the most common imprint on motorcycles; there is another format the Pozidriv. Some games offer the 2 formats. Note that the only standard that does not damage the screws on Japanese motorcycles is the JIS standard.
