A bit of history on Dunlop

Since their first tire in 1888, more than 130 years ago, Dunlop has continued to develop tire technology, their hard-earned knowledge and experience to improve our products.

The emblematic Montluçon plant still has a few employees, producing around one million tires forar year. It is the oldest French factory of the English brand. Since 2000, competition tires for motorcycles have been manufactured on site (Bol d'Or, 1000 Hours of Le Mans, the eight hours of Suzuka).

At the end of the 1970s, the Japanese subsidiary of Dunlop comes under the control of Sumitomo Rubber Industries which will also take over the European and North American subsidiaries. In 2003, the American Goodyear takes over the company except for the aeronautics department.
