TUTORIAL: PERFORMING A REAR AXLE OIL CHANGE (Quad Yamaha 450 Kodiak)

Ce tutorial aims at you help with a rear axle oil change on your quad. The example presented here concerns the rear axle oil change on un Yamaha Kodiak 450. The process remains identical on other brands and other models. Find all the transmission oils and all lubricants adapted to your quad.

HOW TO DRAIN YOUR REAR AXLE

1) Unscrew the drain plug.

2) Let the oil drain into a drain pan.

3) Unscrew the filler cap with the combination wrench.

4) Replace the worn seal and replace the drain plug and screw it back on.

5) Add transmission oil. Fill flush with the thread.

6) Wipe off excess oil with a rag.

7) Replace the filler cap and screw it back on properly.

Choice of oil: Transmission oils are designated by international designation. The GL-3 to GL-5 nominations are dominant. Choosing the wrong transmission oil can cause damage. Thus, we recommend that you inform yourself well about the oil to be used before purchasing.

Warning, the ratings are not the same for gearbox oils. Thus, a 75W90 is not necessarily less fluid than a motor oil.

Disposal of motor oils in nature is strictly prohibited.
