What is enduro?

Enduro is an all-terrain motorized sport, which is practiced on a registered and approved motorcycle, designed for this purpose. The driver must have a driver's license and insurance.ar evolving on paths open to traffic and having to respect the highway code. The routes of the tests, punctuated by time checks (CH) and passage control (CP), are drawn in the form of loops, to be covered several times, and alternate between rolling paths and passages more technical accidents, called "crossing", in order to make use of the resistance of the men and the reliability of the machines, the goal being for each pilot to reach the time controls in time allocated, under penalty of penalty, whether it is early or late. And, to decide between all the pilots who have "checked in" in the timetable, timed events also punctuate the route. The competitors then set off there, a par one, with the aim of achieving the best possible performance, against the clock.

Drivers are also subject to a number of strict rules, such as no engine, wheel or exhaust swapping, and depending on the event, are often required to to carry out their mechanics, such as changing tyres, themselves, on pain of hourly penalties or exclusion. The events generally take place over one or two days, the winner being the driver with the least final time.

Each rider is placed in a category according to the displacement of his motorcycle, in order to guarantee that machines of equivalent power compete together. Beyond the cubic capacity, an "Elite" classification is established in France for the best pilots, then "Nationals", "Juniors", "Veterans". and "Female". For some years, a category Vintage includes motorcycles with a year of production before 1986. There are then mainly machines equipped with double shock absorber suspensions, air-cooled motors and drum brakes.

Theoretically, enduro can be practiced all year round. However, summer is definitely not the best time. Indeed, several reasons:

- It's too hot, too thirsty!

- The floors are dry, not very adherent and raise a lot of dust.

- The forest massifs can be restricted or closed for fire risks.

- Lots of walkers, hikers, mountain bikers, etc. on paths and trails.
