what is the trial ?

Le Trial was born in England when the gentlemen's farmers of the kingdom began to move around their land on motorcycles to reach areas in the middle of nature and difficult to access to man, on motorcycles traditional. The first competition of trial, the famous "Six Days of Scotland", took place in 1909.

Is it really a sport?

Against all appearances, the Trial is a calm sport that requires concentration as well as great gestural and bodily control. The pilots are real tightrope walkers who combine flexibility and balance. Athletes for whom the imperatives of competition imply impeccable physical condition.

Le trial is a sport where the notion of speed does not intervene, only a time limit is imposed.

Le Trial, it's the art of controlling your bike over obstacles, whether natural or not, without setting foot on the ground. This practice requires qualities calling upon the physical condition and therefore on energy processes such as endurance, speed or force. The coordination of gestures requires a large dose of skill and balance and an extraordinary ability to concentrate.

In competition, this sport is practiced from spring to autumn outdoors (“outdoor”) and indoors in winter (“indoor”).

The competition and the different categories

An "outdoor" motorcycle competition trial takes place on a circuit (interzone) of about fifteen kilometers, on which there are delimited sections (zones) in which the competitors, each in turn, try to cross the obstacles (rocks , embankments, roots, etc.) by placing as few feet as possible on the ground, all the pilots evolving successively in the same zones. Depending on their qualities as pilots, they evolve in different tracks. There are several difficulty levels ranging from beginner (Senior 4) to elite pilot (expert).

In the regional championship, they are in ascending order of difficulty: Senior 4 (4), Senior 3 (3), Senior 3+ (3+), Senior 2 (2), Open (2+), 1, Expert. The S3+ category is to do half of the zones in S3 and the other half in S2, it is the same for the Open category with half of the zones in S2 and the other half in S1.

In the French championship, they are in ascending order of difficulty: Senior 2, Open, Senior 1, Expert 1.

In the world championship, they are in ascending order of difficulty: 125 cm3, Junior and World. The first being reserved for those under 18 years of age riding in 125 cm3 cm.

The pilots first circulate on foot in each zone to observe the terrain, see the delicate passages and observe other pilots of their category passing through the zone. Then they have the right to a single passage on a motorbike par round. Several marshals count the number of feet posedar the competitor and award a total of points. Each competitor wears a small card (tie) on which the marshal will punch the number of points awarded to the driver. At the end of each lap (generally three) the driver will give his tie to the registration office which will add up the number of points and this office will add up the points obtained over the total of the laps. The winning drivers will be those, in each category, with the fewest points.
