How to properly maintain your 125cc motorcycle?

If this book does not exist, in particular for a second-hand purchase, obtain the maintenance diagram from the manufacturer. Then start again on a good basis, with a complete overhaul.

Check tire pressure and condition

The tire is obviously crucial to driving your two-wheeler safely. Every 1000 kilometers, or every two weeks on average, take a look at the general condition of the front tire as well as the rear tire: make sure that it does not there is no trace wear on the sides and on the tread.

This quick check will allow you to detect the presence of a stone or a screw: you will thus avoid punctures during the journey! To know the ideal frequency to change the oil filter of your 125cc motorcycle, it is recommended to refer to the manufacturer's manual. The change of oil filter is an easy stage accessible to all.

Check the chain tension and its state of lubrication

Only a well-tensioned chain will ensure flexibility while driving. A chain that is too tight may wear out very quickly, break, or even damage the gearbox: leave about 3 cm of slack between the chain and the swingarm with the wheel back resting on the ground.

To ensure the longevity of the chain kit, check the voltage at all terminals; even every 1000 km for motorcycle enthusiasts cross that have heavy use.

At each check, proceed to the lubrication of chain (and remember to lubricate it after each ride on wet roads).

If you are riding on a muddy or dusty track, or in sand, clean the chain well before greasing it.

Check the braking

These are simple gestures that can prevent you from having an accident. The law requires that the motorcycle be equipped with two brakes, independently operable.

The brake caliper, that becomes clogged with dirt and sand should also be checked. To do this, take the wheel off the ground and throw it by hand. Give it two good brakes and then relaunch it. If you notice significant friction, the pins or pistons are seized, they will need to be cleaned.

As to brake fluid, the jar is theoretically sufficient for the life of the platelets. Over time, the liquid changes color as it darkens, loses some of its properties and may generate corrosion. It should be replaced every year or so.

Check the air filter

In general, the air filter is changed with each revision. On the other hand, if you are riding an enduro, it is good to take a look from time to time and possibly clean and soil the air box using a blower or a compressor.

Replace the spark plug

It is used to ignite the air-fuel mixture. La spark plug must be replaced on a regular basis (every 10 kilometers) and for the most meticulous, cleaned every 000 5 kilometers. Check the fork

If you are alone, the easiest way is to stand in a dark garage and turn them on to see the reflection on the wall.
