Ce tutorial aims to help you replace the rear derailleur on your bike.

Derailleurs experience natural wear over time. Wear can affect their performance by causing, among other things, gear changes or chain jumps.
If adjusting the derailleur does not solve the problem, then it must be replaced.

1) After installing the bike on a workshop stand, remove the chain using the chain tool (for more information, consult our page on bike-specific tools).
2) Insert the chain into the chain tool
3) Remove the pin from one of the links.
4) Once the axle is pushed in, separate the chain. (Be careful not to lose the axis)
5) Once the chain is released, you can remove it.
6) With BTR key, loosen the derailleur cable retaining screw
7) Cut the head of the cable with the cutting pliers to be able to remove it
8) Remove the derailleur cable
9) In order to remove the derailleur, remove the retaining screw using the BTR wrench.
11) After removing the old derailleur, screw in and tighten the screw of the new derailleur
11) Tighten the tension stop as much as possible to keep the derailleur flexible
11) Replace the derailleur cable. (Remember to add a cable end cap to protect it)
11) Screw in and tighten the derailleur cable screw
11) Replace the chain by first passing it throughar the smallest cog on the cassette
11) Then pass the string par the derailleur pulleys. First, pass it in front of the upper derailleur pulley.
11) Then pass it onar opening the derailleur cage to pass it behind the lower roller
11) Finally, place the chain on the smaller chainrings. (Check that the chain is tight when placed on the smallest sprocket and small chainring)
11) With the chain tool, put the pin of the link previously removed back in place to reattach the bike chain
11) Remember to adjust the derailleur and check that the gears shift correctly.
