D3O is a rheo-thickening orange material (also called dilating) which has the particularity of changing its mechanical behavior depending on whether it is deformed slowly or rapidly. Handled slowly, D3O looks like plasticine, but when shocked, it absorbs and disperses energy before instantly returning to its flexible state.
